Comprehensive Plan Update
The City of Chelan is updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is Chelan’s 20-year guiding document for managing growth and shaping the City’s future through 2046.
It outlines the vision, goals, and policies that will help us address critical issues, from housing and transportation to economic development and public services. The plan is required by the state’s Growth Management Act (GMA) to be periodically updated to align with regulatory updates and to respond to changes in local land use and population growth.
The process to update the plan is directed by the GMA and by the Department of Commerce and includes reviewing current plans and development regulations, public outreach, and developing a draft plan, before putting the draft plan through environmental review and review by Commerce and City Council. Once the plan is finalized and approved by Commerce and City Council, it can be adopted.
