Like many other Mayor-Council cities, the City of Chelan has chosen to hire a professional City Administrator to support the Mayor by overseeing administrative and policy-related responsibilities. This approach allows the City to benefit from expert management, enabling the Mayor to dedicate more time to policy development and political leadership, even in a part-time capacity.
Reporting directly to the Mayor, the City Administrator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the City. This includes supervising all Department Directors, overseeing the City Clerk, and serving as the Airport General Manager. Additionally, the Administrator manages inter-local agreements and contracts for essential services, such as legal counsel, public defense, and animal control.
